Are there additional fees beyond the hourly rate?

Yes, in some cases. Travel fees may apply for locations well outside the Las Vegas Valley or the Pahrump valley — including remote Clark County properties, distant Nye County communities, and Boulder City. Any travel fee is confirmed during the consultation before a session is scheduled. There are no hidden fees added after the fact.

Do you train aggressive dogs?

Yes. Aggression cases — including leash aggression, territorial responses, conflict aggression, and resource guarding — are a core focus. We work with dogs that have a bite history using a structured, safety-first protocol. A bite history does not disqualify a dog from training; it changes how we structure the work. Yes. Leash-reactive, barrier-frustrated, and over-aroused dogs are some of the most common cases we take. Do you guarantee results?

No. We do not promise instant results or guaranteed behavior changes. Living, thinking dogs do not respond to guarantees, and any trainer who offers one is not being honest with you. What we do promise is a structured plan, honest reporting at every phase, and handler coaching that gives you the best realistic path to improvement.

What training tools do you use?

We use standard, well-understood equipment appropriate to the work — leashes, flat or training collars, long lines, muzzles for safety cases, and reward-based reinforcement where it fits. We do not rely on a single branded system or a one-size-fits-all tool. Tool choices are explained during the consultation.

Yes. The work continues between sessions, and owner homework is central to the process. Each session leaves you with specific, manageable exercises that fit your schedule. Owners who want a quick fix without between-session work are not a fit for this approach. The handler's consistency is what determines whether the work holds.

Dogs with a bite history are not disqualified from training. A bite history changes how we structure the work. A safety-first protocol — including muzzle training, leash handling, and management — is established before any behavior modification begins. We assess the bite history honestly, set realistic expectations, and report progress and setbacks openly.

From there you receive a written baseline assessment and a phased training plan. No session is scheduled before the consultation.

Do you offer group classes?

Accepted Answer

No. XL K-9 Coach is a private training service. There are no group classes. Reactive, aggressive, and high-drive dogs — the core of this practice — do not benefit from a group setting, and group classes are not a fit for the structured, individual work these cases require. Every client receives one-on-one attention.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions take place in your home or a controlled field location, depending on the behavior case and the phase of training. In-home sessions are available across the Las Vegas Valley and Pahrump. Field sessions are used for real-world proofing once core behaviors are in place. Session location is confirmed during the consultation.

What if my dog doesn't improve?

Progress is reported honestly at every phase, including setbacks. If a dog is not responding to a given approach, we reassess the plan and adjust — not pretend the work is succeeding. Some cases progress faster than others, and some behaviors are more resistant to change than others. We will tell you the truth about where your dog is and what is realistic.
